Hometown:
Wooster, Ohio
Darren has been in full time ministry since July 28, 1981. His ministry journey began in South Carolina where for sixteen years he served as a youth pastor. He was used of God to create a life-changing youth ministry, which saw its numbers grow to equal the size of the adult congregation.
He served as the Youth Ministry Specialist at Valley ForgeChristianCollege for the next two years. His leadership ability resulted in several hundred college students participating in his classes. Darren has a unique mixture of leadership, academic excellence, and deep personal concern. Because he proved to be such an extraordinary mentor to many of his college students, they affectionately referred to him as "Coach."
Darren left the college campus to found and direct Master's Commission Atlanta under the leadership of Jeanne Mayo. He has found Master’s Commission to be an incredible program of academics, training, discipleship and mentorship. It was his desire to bring such a program back to South Carolina where his ministry career began. Darren brings a sense of experience and legacy that is both rare and significant.
A youth pastor overheard that Darren had accepted the Master’s Commission director's position and commented: "Well, that Master’s Commission will be one of the best. If Darren Hileman is directing it, I can already tell you what the outcome will be. That guy just does everything he touches with the aggression of a lion but the heart of a father. He's tough to beat."
It is a father’s heart that desires to pour into a fatherless generation and make family a reality. Darren’s passion is to inspire a generation to aggressively pursue the Lord and His calling upon their lives. South Carolina School of Leadership is truly a "Director-driven-program." Because of that, students who join the SCSL family will be truly impacted for life.
On a personal level, Darren is married to a queen in her own right, Mandy. She is part of mentoring the young women in SCSL and is a vital part of the leadership team. The Hileman’s were married in 1989 and have one adorable daughter, Cailyn, and one son, Braydon, who are two of the cutest children in captivity.
