Making History
This past Sunday, May 4, 2008, we made history. As many of you know, Comunidad Cristiana Vida Plena is a new church plant that our family has been a part of since the dream phase. In January, we started meeting with our core group on Sundays in a chapel at Cincel (Assemblies of God language school), and this past weekend, we launched in Tres Rios for the first time. We had spent months in preparation and seeking God for His direction and His timing. So it was in a rented community hall that we waited with nervous expectancy for people to come and be a part of our first family celebration. As I stood from the stage and lead in worship, it was amazing to see over 50 adults and 6-8 kids come and join with us. It was amazing to watch as I looked out the front door from the stage, I saw people stopping and trying to figure out what was going on. There are things that have happened even this week to keep us excited about what God is doing in Tres Rios. One of our guests was the president of the association that administers the community center we will be renting for our family celebrations through at least the end of the year, and he informed us that he was a Christian and had been attending a church in Coronado, roughly 30 way depending on traffic. He really wanted to find a church closer to home, and after the service was over, he told us how excited that he was and that he was bringing his wife to join us next week! God is opening doors for us and we are trying to hold on and follow where He is leading.
One quick note: As I said, we have 50 adults last Sunday. We have bought 50 chairs up front, and if we have any visitors next week, we're going to be crossing our fingers as we need more chairs. If you would like to partner with us and help buy some more chairs, each one cost $16 and gives another person a seat and hopefully a chance to come to know God through the ministry God has led us into. If you would be interested in partnering with us, send us an e-mail @ jpd381@mac.com and we'll give you the info on how to do that. We love and appreciate you guys and thanks you so much for praying and supporting us so that we could be a part of this. You might not make it here to Costa Rica, but each of you have a part in the lives that are being and will be transformed through Vida Plena!
