4/1/08 Hello, God is doing some great things in our group. The leadership team is growing closer, worship times are getting deeper, practical matters are coming together, and our budget is growing.
Two weeks ago we took several leaders and some others to the "Honoring the Fathers" conference at Morning Star ministries. This past week we had an incredible worship time around a bon fire.
We now have wi-fi in the Seven13 building where we meet that students can access for free. We hope this will be a draw for more students to come hang out--our student leaders and I will be keeping the building open on Thursdays and Fridays from 3PM until late night. Hopefully this will be especially appealing to international students--we plan to put invitations at HIS International where we have been attending international lunches for several weeks now. (His serves several hundred students each week.)
We are also going to use the wi-fi link to subscribe to the International House of Prayer, Kansas City. They have a 24/7 live prayer and worship stream that we will be participating with weekly.
Two final notes and a prayer request:
(1)Thank you for your continued support. We have taken the step of faith and Debbie had submitted her resignation for June 13. Our budget has been recovering and we are believing God to be back on full time status and budget around that time.
(2)For those who want a simpler way to contribute, check out http://ag.org/top/contributions/index.cfm. From there you can contribute online or submit a form for automatic monthly contributions. You can find us by name (Scott Reeves) or account number (266021).
(3) the point for prayer--please pray that the student over the Safe Zone group would return my attempts to contact soon. We want to continue to minister to the homosexual students on campus.
Blessings,
Scott R.

2/26/08 Another quick update. Our Sunday morning Student church is off to a good start. We are growing each week, and today was our largest crowd yet. Also, we have a young man from the group who is going to Africa to minister for two years. Our group prayed for him today and gave about $400 towards his trip. His name is Edwin and he leaves in two weeks--please keep him in your prayers. Blessings, Scott R. Chi Alpha @ USC
Time flies. I can't believe we're just over a week from March. God has been working here and it is all we can do to keep up. WE have an offer on the house. Please pray that it all goes through and quickly.
We have received several new pledges--including two from former students. Not only is it a blessing to see our budget start to recover, but the notes from our former students and the fact that their words of thanks were backed up with financial investment into what we are doing at USC are such a blessing.
God has blessed us with a house to rent with plenty of space for homeschool and hosting students. We've had students in our home at least twice a week every week since the start of the semester now. You may remember that one of our goals for the semester was to have more time to mentor student leaders. We've had some excellent times. Our present leaders are fully committed to the vision.
You may also remember some of our other goals for the semester. One was for the start of a prayer movement on campus. We are now meeting every Tuesday morning at 7:30 and on Friday nights for worship and prayer. We will soon have high speed wireless at the Seven13 building we meet in and begin to stream International House of Prayer's 24/7 live feed a couple of times a week.
Also, one of our student leaders has volunteered to approach other student ministry groups about a combined weekly prayer meeting for the campus. God has given us five strategic prayer points for the campus: included at the end of this e-mail so you can join us in prayer.
Another goal was to re-establish our connection and influence with international students. Just this week God allowed me to cross paths with a Nigerian student I met over a year ago. Also, Abi, one of our students, just befriended a Japanese young lady she stopped to talk with on campus. We will be going to HIS International, a local ministry that serves lunch to international students weekly, to try and meet more international students and assist in ministry to them starting this Thursday. This will start to fulfill a forth goal I mentioned at the end of last semester--students involved in community outreach and missions.
We still need your prayer for our fifth goal--continued outreach to the gay community. We have not been able to capitalize on the groundwork laid last semester--I cannot stress the importance of this ministry. Please pray--it is near to our heart and to God's, but as you can imagine it is not a wide open door.
Thank you for your continued prayer and support, we cannot do this without you. This is a team effort.
Blessings, Scott R. Chi Alpha @ USC
PRAYER POINTS FOR USC REVIVAL: These are based on our conviction that what holds revival back here is a spirit of false religion.
1. That believers on campus would begin behaving in such a way as to undermine the spirit of religion on campus. Compassion, passion, & purity, a three stranded cord against legalism & license.
2. Real unity rooted in God’s love that rejoices in truth. Unity in the Spirit of Truth. Without judgmental words of accusation. Courage to speak the truth in real love.
3. Prayer for blessing of the administration with wisdom especially Dr. Sorensen (or the current President,) that God would rebuke the spirit of religion that is active in them. That they would be brought into the depths of the knowledge of Christ.
4. For the religion department- the seat of the spirit of religion to be brought into light from darkness. That God would expose demonic doctrine and transform the hearts and minds of the professors. That the unchanged would be replaced by Godly men and women.
5. Campus ministries to be open to and hungry for the Spirit of God. That campus ministers would be challenged and transformed. Again that the hardened would be replaced by those tender to the Lord.
